Staff Conduct & Expectations

• Represent the Venue: Carry yourself with maturity, discretion, and composure at all times. You set the baseline for the entire community.

• Strict Confidentiality: Never share internal staff discussions, member verification data, moderation logs, or private ticket details outside of authorized channels.

• Impartial Fairness: Enforce standards objectively. Personal biases, favoritism, and power trips have no place here. Treat every member with steady, consistent respect.

• Lead by Example: Follow the house rules impeccably. If rules apply to guests, they apply doubly to you.

Staff communication should always project control and class.

• What to Avoid: Sarcasm, snappiness, chaotic public reactions, or overly flirty/enmeshed behavior with members.

• De-Escalation First: Lower the temperature in any situation. Redirect public tension immediately and resolve disputes privately via tickets in #help-desk. When in doubt, pause and consult an Admin.

• Be Visible & Welcoming: Maintain a healthy, welcoming presence in the lounges. Greet newcomers sincerely and help the venue feel alive and active.

• Encourage Participation: Support community features like QOTDs, polls, and events.

• Channel Collaboration: Bring ideas and feedback to the team in #staff-chat, but keep disagreements or policy debates strictly internal and professional.

• Cold & Consistent: Enforce the rules strictly according to the enforcement matrix—without emotion or ego.

• Never Moderate While Upset: If a situation frustrates you, step back and hand it off to another moderator.

• Isolate Disruption: Move arguments out of public view immediately. Do not engage in public back-and-forth debates.

• Document Everything: Log warnings, timeouts, and bans thoroughly with screenshots and notes in #mod-logs and #tickety-logs.

• Escalate When Unnecessary: You are never expected to carry a heavy burden alone. Hand complex safety or ToS issues directly to Admins.

• Guard Your Role: Do not act as a member's therapist or personal emotional caretaker. Maintain a friendly distance—accessible, but never enmeshed.

• Avoid Conflicts of Interest: Do not moderate personal friends or close associates; pass those situations to another staff member to maintain total objectivity.

• Protect Your Space: Leave server drama at the door. Your personal peace keeps your judgment sharp.

• Use Channels Correctly: Keep operational chatter in #staff-chat and system logs where they belong.

• Present a United Front: Never contradict or undermine another staff member publicly. If you spot an error, address it privately behind the scenes.

• Communication of Absence: Notify an Admin if you will be inactive or unavailable for an extended period so scheduling and coverage remain smooth.
