Masquerade staff should feel confident handling everyday community interactions — but equally confident knowing when not to handle something alone. Escalating protects members, shields staff from liability, and ensures high-impact scenarios are resolved by senior leadership.

🚨 Gold Rule of Escalation: If you ever think "I don't know how to handle this" or "I feel uncomfortable here," step back and escalate to an Admin immediately. Never guess on safety.

🩶 When to Escalate Immediately

Self-Harm / Distress

Critical Indicators: Suicide mentions, hopelessness, violent ideation, or "jokes" about self-harm.
Immediate Staff Protocol: Escalate to Admin. Do not engage solo. Direct to resources via ticket.

Illegal / Sensitive Media

Critical Indicators: Non-consensual content, revenge porn, doxxing, blackmail, or stalking.
Immediate Staff Protocol: Escalate to Admin + Preserve Links. NEVER download illegal or non-consensual media.

Underage / Fake Verification

Critical Indicators: "I'm 17 but almost 18," altered IDs, suspicious selfies, or verification inconsistencies.
Immediate Staff Protocol: Escalate to Admin. Instant access restriction. Safety is non-negotiable.

Impersonation

Critical Indicators: Pretending to be staff or members, fake mod logs, or forged screenshots.
Immediate Staff Protocol: Escalate to Admin. Requires high-level identity audit and review.

Volatile / Group Drama

Critical Indicators: Dogpiling, heated VC fights, emotional meltdowns, or staff targeted by groups.
Immediate Staff Protocol: Apply initial stabilization (timeout/kick) $\rightarrow$ Escalate to Admin.

Anything Involving Minors

Critical Indicators: "She's 17 but looks older," past photos under 18, or third-party minor references.
Immediate Staff Protocol: Escalate to Admin immediately. Zero tolerance policy across all channels.

Attendant → Host

Escalates general member conflicts, basic rule concerns, or questions exceeding entry-level support.

Host → Admin

Escalates safety issues, underage claims, illegal content, fake verifications, or volatile chat drama.

Admin → Owner

Escalates structural policy changes, platform-level legal risks, or server-wide infrastructure concerns.

Admin → Discord

Escalates explicit ToS violations, underage content, non-consensual media, or actionable real-world threats.
